Volkan 400 Animal Incinerator
The incinerator is highly efficient as it is designed to heat up to the required temperature quicker using higher heat rate burners and low thermal mass linings. Once the incinerator has been loaded a burn program is selected and it is possible to leave the incinerator unattended until the carcass reduces to ash. With a burn rate of less than 50kg per hour, the Volkan 400 incinerator has a low capacity status requiring no planning permission for farm usage. Temperature measurement equipment and controller is supplied as standard on the incinerator. This ensures that the afterburner gas temperature reaches 850oC as soon as possible. Once reached 850oC is maintained until the end of the main burn cycle. Should the temperature continue to rise, one or both of the burners are turned off. This provides significant fuel saving. At all times the 850oC for 2 seconds Animal By-Products Regulation requirement is met for the exhaust gases. The incinerator is commissioned on site by a fully trained engineer and requires a concrete hard standing with a 240-volt electricity and fuel supply. The incinerator has a chimney stack which is 2 metres from the top of the incinerator.

The Volkan 400 is a top-loading incinerator with a unique side-opening lid, providing clear access for ease of loading. It has been designed so that the operator may mechanically load this incinerator. Therefore all controls are placed away from the loading areas so that loading machinery will not damage them. The incinerator has a unique safety barrier providing health and safety protection for the operator. The Spectrum Alwen is capable of pre-heating the after burner to the required temperature before loading the carcass. Once again enabling filling of the chamber to be trouble-free.
