Why Buy An Animal Incinerator?Fallen stock disposal, what options are there? 1. Purchasing your own animal incinerator. 2. Fallen stock collectors, taking your stock for incineration. 3. Taking fallen stock to hunt kennels. (Burial is not legal in the EU, and many other parts of the world). 1. Purchasing your own incinerator. Purchasing your own animal incinerator from us is LEGAL within the UK & the EU, as all our animal incinerators comply by EU animal by-products legislation 1774/2002 which proscribes the use of a secondary chamber, to reduce emissions. Features of on-farm incineration: a. Low per carcass costs - Typically £4-£5 an hour to burn 50kg b. Bio-security - truly bio-secure - no carcasses enter or leave the farm c. Self-management - dispose of carcasses as and when you want to. 2. Fallen stock collection. Fallen stock collection is available for most locations in the UK, typically a monthly fee is paid in addition to a per carcass rate, that varies greatly depedning on location. Waste Spectrum have spoken to many farmers regarding there use of fallen stock schemes, who have identified the following characteristics: a. High cost per carcass - up to 10 times as expensive as incineration b. Low start-up/fixed costs - no capital outlay is needed. c. Inconvenience - loss of control with sometimes lengthy waiting periods. 3. Hunt Kennels Using a local hunt kennel is available to only a very few farmers. Typically per carcass costs are lower than fallen stock schemes, but still more expensive than incineration, and less bio-secure. Waste Spectrum believe that on-farm incineration is the right way forward, representing the most bio-secure, environmentally friendly and often the most cost-effective form of fallen stock disposal. We realise that incineration may not be viable for all farmers, particularly those with very small numbers of livestock, but we strive to back farmers as and were we can, and can offer mobile solutions and advice on cooperative ventures.
